Is that geographism that's coming out of your keyboard?

Well, he did ramp up the crime bill, increase penalties for marijuana (at a time even the US is moving away from stricter laws on drugs), try to push through the internet bill to appease the corporations, and dismantle a lot of our ability to make smart environmental decisions while muzzling Canadian scientists.
While what you said is true technically, I don't think anyone was going to reopen the abortion thing, any leader would have done the same. In fact it's a small miracle the Conservatives did do what they did. So it's hard to praise them for that.
As far as the gay marriage thing, I'll give that one to him, though again, it wasn't anything any other leader wouldn't have done. It was rolling before him, and was going to continue rolling with or without him.
I have said in the past that Harper isn't quite the right wing boogyman a lot of people like to paint him as, so I agree with you there. In the beginning I liked a lot of what he did, even with trying to bring Quebec into the fold. But, especially recently, there some very important, very divisive, right wing platforms he has pushed through, so people do have a right to that opinion.
Though it would be nice if they voiced their concerns in a intelligent and more thought provoking manner than that one idiotic sentence above.
