If the logic is to bring in some more youth next year, particularly the one's that are playing now....where does he fit?
Sven(LW), Glencross (LW), Reinhart (LW)
Horak (RW), Stempniak (RW), Hudler (RW)
Backlund (C), Stajan (C)
This is without Cammaleri playing next year or a UFA signing or trade. I don't see where he fits, unless its the pressbox or the 4th line (which isn't happening). On top of that, if a top young centre is drafted this year, it wouldn't surprise me if he made the squad over Tanguay.
Based on the length of the contract and the need to make room for the youth, a buyout wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I do realize that his production would be greater than some of the players on the list above, but, as I stated earlier, a buyout such as this is for roster space..nothing more.
