The Flames are a loooong way from needing anything of the sort and I suspect Tanguay will be here at least next year if not for the duration of his deal unless he requests to be moved.

I hypothesize that he won't be back next year and will be bought out. Not because he isn't "worth his contract", but because he really doesn't fit into what the Flames are trying to achieve right now.
The young players will play next year, and, although he may be a better option than Sven (LW), Glencross (LW) and Reinhart(LW), in the present, I don't think he'll be around as he fills a roster spot that a young player needs to develop.
It's a numbers game now, and what he can bring today is not necessarily what will drive the decision to keep him around.
