Reinhart family moment at Rexall as young Max scores 1st NHL goal on lifeless Edmonton Oilers

“I remember hearing it hit the post, but I don’t remember seeing it go in,” Max Reinhart said. “I just remember getting a puck in the slot and I saw (Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin) kind of leaning to the short side and I just threw it far side as hard as I could.”

So, it was a good thing Theresa Reinhart, mother of Max, 21, Griffin, 19, and Sam, 17, elite hockey players, all, was paying attention when her first-born son buried a shot behind Edmonton Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin at 10:19 of the period, giving the Flames the 4-1 lead they held in the final Battle of Alberta game of the season.

“I don’t usually get that excited, but this is pretty good,” said a clearly elated Theresa Reinhart after the game, the fifth as an NHLer for Max. “To see someone achieve their dreams, it’s pretty special to be a part of it.”
