- If i didn't install the Start 8 program to give me a start menu, are the only ways to open programs are windows exploer, the run dialog or shortcuts on the desktop? You can use a launcher like Launchy, the Metro Start menu, Run dialog or a regular deskop/taskbar shortcut.
