I don't think the ESPN guys were dismissing Gaudreau because they think he doesn't deserve it. I think they were dismissing him because they understand that there is a bias in favor of older players.
Gaudreau is a sophomore, as sad as it is, it does makes his odds a little longer.
Like last year, you can't tell me that Jack Connolly was a better college player and had a better year than Justin Schultz. But Schultz was merely a junior. Christ Schultz should have won it as both a Sophomore and a Junior.
In 32 years of the award being handed out it has been given to 1 Freshman, 5 Sophomores, 4 Juniors and 22 Seniors.
