He also did recently get married. He probably had a lot of crap on his mind and just like every other person in the world, that could've easily distracted him from his job.
Even with his slump, Ovechkin is still outscoring Crosby in the NHL since they started their careers in '05-'06. Being too fragile to play regularly isn't an excuse. Just ask Eric Lindros.
Crosby still has the edge due to team accomplishments (a team that happened to have Malkin, the MVP of their cup run) but if Ovi can regain his form and win a cup, I don't see how you can just declare Crosby the better player simply cause you have some Canadian love affair with him. Especially if he happens to win the Conn Smythe to go with it.
