He upgraded to a better team where he doesn't have to be the leader and the player who is expected to lead the team in goals and assists. I'm sure he appreciates that.
I have always questioned his leadership skills and felt he was too quiet of a person to be a captain. My idea of a captain is someone like Messier who wasn't afraid to lecture his team mates on poor play.
