I don't buy that. I get that they are a poorly run franchise but that would be akin to purposely trying not to build a team. Drafting top players and trading them when they come of their ELC's to replace them with their top upcoming draft picks is counter productive. What you propose is akin to a dog chasing it's tail. Erik Johnson isn't a franchise defenseman and Jones will be. Easy decision unless you think they are comfortable with Hunwick as their top D man going forward.
