Yes, but the Aves also don't like to spend money, witness the hardball that they played with ROR. Statsny makes 6.6M and is a UFA the year after next... I could easily see the Aves deciding that With ROR, and Duchene entering their third contracts (and Landeskog his second) that same year that they need to clear out dollars and if they draft MacKinnon to "replace" Statsny they could ship him (Statsny) out for a more cost controlled bluechip D-man. It would accomplish the same thing as drafting Jones straight up but would be more cost efficient in terms of real dollars.
