Well I've actually done a fair amount of that kind of camping as well (and definitely enjoy it!). Let me guess though, no kids? Mine will be backpacking soon enough, but for the time being we'll enjoy the outdoors as we can.
By the way, its nowhere near a mobile home park. A lot of people use the campground as a sort of home base and do excursions from there while some people stay behind and do other stuff. There's certainly nothing wrong with how different people enjoy the outdoors.
