In Wailea I'd also like to give a big vote for the Fairmont Kea Lani. Sharing Polo beach with just the Polo Beach club condos it definitely doesn't get as crowded as the other Wailea resort beaches. Plus the Kea Lani has less rooms than the other resorts, leading to a much less crowded experience. All the rooms are suites if I recall correctly.
Oh and if you have megabux you can stay in the oceanfront villas, complete with your own hot tub, kitchen, in-suite laundry, etc. Those units are incredible!

Here here! It would be great to have that connection made public, the south side of the island is just so rugged and beautiful. We did the drive all the way around coming from Hana and I loved it. Also make a point of visiting the grave of Charles Lindbergh in Kipahulu if you are down in that area.
