I'm not sure if anyone on this board takes too much stock in advanced hockey stats, but I'd have to agree with posters suggesting we take Mackinnon or even Drouin over Jones. The link I've posted gets into the history of drafting a Dman 1st overall vs. selecting a forward. Interesting analysis wherein he ultimately suggests that in general selecting a forward is best.

Furthermore, I see any proposal to get another top 5 pick slightly implausible without including Sven. He is NHL ready and I'd suggest that packaging him with the STL. 1st might do the trick. I feel that somehow getting Mackinnon and Drouin would be a huge turning point for this franchise.
