In an age after China was seeing as a developing hegemonic threat, China is seeing it's power waning economically and some sort of military intervention would reinvigorate the country a substantial margin. However, this would be a mountainous challenge for the Communist party and its effectiveness in righting the course for Chinese growth, as well as becoming a critical international player in geopolitical matters. They are heavily invested in Western industry and manufacturing on home soil, and would have to delicately tip-toe around spooking foreign investors.

I believe China has more at stake in this than any other world power in the Far East region.
