Hunters, including trophy hunters, play an essential role in conservation of animals. The amount of money they generate and land they preserve goes much farther than most environmental groups. In Alberta a large portion of the parks and rec. budget comes from hunters liscencing fees. The environmental group Ducks Unlimited was started as a group of hunters wanting to protect wetlands for ducks.

What I am getting at is hunters are not idiots, sick or godless killing machines. They have a role to play and are not deserving of the rediculous public bashing by the general public as long as they are following the laws. The hunters and poachers that are breaking the law should be prosecuted to its full extent.

I just don't get killing for the sake of saying you killed an animal. Hunting is fine, for meat. But I can't wap my head around someone that kills an animal "because it was there".
