Lots of possible reasons, many have been listed. Having ANY possible reason makes the reasoning "Calgary hasn't traded Kipper therefore Kipper is blocking the trade by threatening to retire if he gets traded" flawed.
Despite the recent fashion of reacting to heresay and speculation, I still contend that it's not a good thing to do.

Because a team acquiring him may not be interested in a rental and want to know if they have a good chance of signing him to an extension before agreeing to a trade.

Feaster being 'able' to do what he wants with Kipper does not equate to wanting to do whatever he wants to do with Kipper, or that what Feaster wants necessarily equates to what
you want.
The chain of reasoning is circular: Feaster hasn't traded Kipper because Kipper is blocking the trade, I know Kipper is blocking the trade because Feaster hasn't traded Kipper.
