Basically Kiprusoff is not likely going anywhere not because he doesnt necessarily want to, but because he isnt sure he has "it" anymore (and yes family/home issues as well at the moment). In fact it was insinuated by Warrener that Kiprusoff likely turned down an extension from Toronto that would of been "a lot" of money, because he isnt sure he would live up to the level of pay and was concerned he wouldnt earn whatever the compensation was. This is why the retirement thing is so front and center...niot because he doesnt want to play, but because he isnt sure he is able to play at the level he expects of himself moving forward.
Sure sounds like a selfish dick now doesnt he?

I'll admit I thought what he was doing was hurting the team and he should've just kept his mouth shut and moved wherever he was traded. Still do. Had he done that the Calgary Flames would have benefited and that's the only team most of us all care about.
Him questioning his ability shouldn't have cost the Flames a 2nd or 3rd round pick, should have cost the Leafs that.
That said, I admire him being able to recognize that in himself and acknowledge that signing a big long term contract is only going to bring misery for him and his family down the road. Just wish he had left all this on the Leafs to deal with. If he's going to retire in a month or two anyways, what difference does it make to him where he does it from?
It's not like he would've had to move his entire family there, he just had to go away on a work trip for a couple months at most. Do you know how many people do that EVERYDAY for A LOT less money?
