Where has this been confirmed? Or is it just speculation? One would think that after recent events reacting to speculation would be shown to be at best embarassing.

Lots of people put their families before their jobs, I think that's a better way to live one's life personally.
But again, why not wait to see if he actually does play next season (and the reasons) and react based on what really happens rather than just rumour and hearsay?
If he does play for next season for the Flames mentoring a young goalie that could also be a good thing.
