I do not understand the lofty expectations for Ramo around here.
He wasn't overly successful in his previous stint in North America, two other NHL clubs have essentially given up on him and his largest successes have been in a league where Jeff Glass and Curtis Sanford have looked like world class goaltenders at times. Despite this, he is often talked about as Kipper's heir apparent.
The high hopes seem to be tied to Feaster billing him as one of the best goaltenders in Europe. This is the same guy that tagged Cervenka as one of the best players outside the NHL last year and apparently expected him to fill in as Jokinen's replacement down the middle.
Maybe Ramo will come in and have success. Maybe he will come in and be the next Jonas Gustavsson. To be (intellectually) honest, the latter scenario seems more likely to me.
