I distinctly remember people being pretty happy about the front loaded contract, because of this specific reason. By the $1.5M year, everyone wanted Kipper retired so that his artificial cap hit of $5.8M is off the books. Meanwhile, the team takes advantage of the cap friendly hit for the majority of the contract.
Now we're heading into that final year, and he's doing exactly what people wanted, and some posters here are whining about it.
