The thing is, typically at deadline day, it is the elite teams that are adding the big pieces and fringe teams are gambling on the smaller prizes. The fact Flames were able to get a 1st that could easily be in the 16-20 range is pretty big (whether it ends up being this year or next). I thought for sure if we traded him, it would be more in the 25-30 range. It's actually odd to see a 9th place team make this kind of deadline deal. I know if the Flames were in 9th and traded our 1st for someone like Bouwmeester, most people here would be having a conniption.

Just think how much it would cost to move up from say 25 to 16 and add that value on to the trade.
