Talent wise, he is basically a Gaudreau type that had a growth spurt. If you'd have seen anything related to him, you would be able to tell that he was all that and as good of a chance to be a home run pick as any taken before him, but with the caveat that if he does hit, he'll be a 6'4" 230 lb skilled 1st/2nd liner vs a 5-9 waterbug type with Teravainen like Gaudreau.

I did an awful lot of research on the 2012 draft & I was really intrigued by Jankowski. His name popped up a lot as a slightly risky but potentially huge reward guy. He's the kind of player that the Flames of old would have never taken a risk picking, even though he projects to be exactly the type of player we need. If Sutter had that #14 pick there's little doubt Maatta would have been a Flame.
