Looking at tonight's JBouw deal, it is obvious that the 6.68 cap hit for next season creates a drastic reduction in his trade value (unless you are willing to take back salary under the new CBA).

Seems like Kipper's cap hit next year may be an issue as well, although that is moot when you consider how poor his numbers are this year.

Sounds like any trade for Cammy would require taking significant salary back.

Looking at Iginla, I am sure that trading him 1 or 2 years ago would have been very difficult as well. 7.0M was a huge hit for a player of his age. Calgary could justify such a salary because he was the face of the franchise. Not sure many teams would have had room for him for 1 or 2 full seasons. So I think his trade value would have been drastically lower than the talking heads might now suggest. I am not sure the return would have been significantly better than it was in 2013.
