I don't know if anyone is over the moon with what the Flames have received, in terms of prospects, for Iginla and Bouwmeester, but it really comes down to that.
Did he have better offers and decided to take the worst one?
Feaster may not be guided by the ghost of Sam Pollock, but obviously this is what's out there right now.
All this talk of "at least an "A" prospect and the first and a project and bla bla bla" all sounds well and good, but the other GM's either:
A) weren't offering the dream packages
B) Feaster actively decided to take the worst offer he could find
Which one is more likely?
For Bouwmeester in particular, this is exactly the kind of trade we would have freaked out about a year ago, but it would have been the other way around.
The Flames were on the fringe of the playoffs and if they had dumped a first rounder and two prospects for an overpaid, underachieving defenseman for just a hope of making the playoffs, we would have considered it a disaster.
Now it goes the other way, and Feaster sucks for doing it.
