Stempniak is worth a third at best. He is a depth piece for a playoff team. If you packaged him with the Flames' second, you might get a low first, that's the only way that happens (essentially you'd be trading up less than 10 positions).
I'll probably never say this again, but... I generally agree with Puckluck. All of this is the most promising stuff the Flames have done in years. It still should've been done in 2011, and the return for Iginla was still weak, but if I had taken over the team at the beginning of March, I wouldn't have done much differently.
I think trading Glencross is potentially a pretty excellent idea. He is still an attractive piece to a team not in the playoffs. STL's first and Glencross would be worth a likely top 10 pick. The Flames would then get 2 picks in the top 10. With a little luck, that could be an instantaneous rebuild.
I would perhaps put Kipper in a package and see if I could get another first out of him too.
