The Flames were legitimate contenders from 2004-2008. That was their window, and they went all-in duing that time, but unfortunately they didnt win a cup.
But to say that they have been a terrible team the entire team is just ignorant. This team was one of the best in the world for several years. It's kind of amazing that this whole period of time has completely evaporated right out of the memory of a lot of people who post on this site, and that suddenly there's no difference between losing in the playoffs to the president's trophy winner, versus having the most consistent stretch of failure in NHL history.

Really?
A team that has held home ice advantage in the playoffs for all of 1 round in over 2 decades?
Sorry man, Flames definitely went all-in, but other than 2006 and maybe 2009 they were never an elite team, just a team on the playoff side of mediocrity... 2010 to 2012 they were on the non-playoff side of mediocrity, and now they plain suck because of that failed all-in mentality.
