Come to think of it, the Calgary Flames are pretty thin on defense and I am really not sure trading a 29 year old Jay Bouwmeester would help this issue.
I know there is a rather large faction that believes that by the numbers that he is not worth what he earns and he has been underwhelming.
But he eats huge minutes at a very high level against the other teams best players and is as smoothe of a skater as they come....he would be a great asset on any team, why not have him remain an asset on ours?

The man wilts under pressure. If we ever wish to entertain the idea that we become a good team again some day, I really see no way that it happens with Bouwmeester playing big minutes. Maybe if his role gets scaled down and he becomes a secondary guy it could work, but I would just as soon see him gone. Don't like his compete level, don't like the way he seems to accept losing.
