You know, my first thought of trading Jay Bouwmeester would be that I would want Alex Pieterangelo as a centerpeice in return.....but then St. Louis would never trade a young talented defenceman with big upside and a high potential to reach for an older talented defenseman that has already reached his potential.
Which begs the question why would St. Louis do that? Thats right, they wouldnt.
Come to think of it, the Calgary Flames are pretty thin on defense and I am really not sure trading a 29 year old Jay Bouwmeester would help this issue.
I know there is a rather large faction that believes that by the numbers that he is not worth what he earns and he has been underwhelming.
But he eats huge minutes at a very high level against the other teams best players and is as smoothe of a skater as they come....he would be a great asset on any team, why not have him remain an asset on ours?
