The move is definately good for the local economy, no denying that.
I think the whole new skyscraper idea is out of the question, seeing how they already have office space lined up.
It definately makes business sense for them - moving the hq to where the oil is...who wudda thunk it? Although the office in Calgary probably has been good at building relationships w/ other businesses, having more corporate functions in town will definately bring more business for other companys. Great news for them, definately.
However, the effects probably won't be material at all with regards to our economy, but definately a positive move
As for oil capital? Of Canada, yes, but we were always that. N.A./the world? That's a tougher sell. I personally don't buy it.
