One reason could be that they don't want the incoming GM to deal with the garbage and fan backlash from selling everything - especially Iginla. It could be that they have already interviewed the next GM and he has given instructions about what things to buy and sell.
If the hype is true, then Feaster isn't making the decisions anyway so trust in him is irrelevant.
