Players will still sign here for opportunity and dollars. I'm not sure Iginla was instrumental in bringing Hudler in for example. But instead the money combined with the opportunity to play top two lines.
In the future hopefully the lure will also be to play on a young and upcoming team that has some great young players. Obviously this won't be the case for probably a year or two. EDM managed to snag Schultz because of opportunity but also because he thought they'd be a contender eventually with all their young talent.
By the time we need to landing that final piece to be a cup contender you'd think some of the other pieces would be attractive enough to help lure guys.
Which brings us back to the question of who will be the next face of the franchise? This draft will be huge for us.
