I am not defending Jay Feaster but I've seen this fire sale happenned before while Risebrough was the GM. Fans and media pressuring him to trade Doug Gilmour. He ended up messing up trying to please everyone. We pretty much got nothing in return. Iginla's trade I think is pretty similar with fans and media keeps saying Trade Iginla stuff. Feaster made a bad move just trading him to 2 college players that we might not even see don the Flames jersey and a late first round pick. I and i know a lot of people are not happy with the return, and I am also not happy with the way he handled the Boston fiasco. Agreeing at noon with Boston then to come back later and using Iginla as an excuse is so unprofessional. Now everytime Iggy goes to Boston, he'll get booed because they might think that Iggy does not want to play for the Bruins. Why can't Feaster just tell Boston, yes we might have a deal but we are still waiting for the other team to make an offer. Chiarelli even says that Feaster did not give him access to talk to Iggy. Is it easier to tell Boston, Iggy's first choice is to play with Sidney but if he is not happy with the return, they can try to convince Iggy to change his mind. Maybe Boston ante up the return I don't know. Or maybe Boston would have made Iggy change his mind. But telling Chiarelli that we got the deal, then come back before midnight saying we traded Iginla to Pittsburgh because that's Iginla's choice is stupid.
I wouldn't be surprise if he mess up a potential trade for Bouwmeester. Flames I believe are on a maximum contract limit right now. So if Feaster trades with Detroit for instance, he can only pick one contract player (prospect or not) and he might settle with 5th round pick, which will be suck. I hope he waits until the offseason to trade Bouw. That way, some of the contract players might not re-sign and Feaster will have room to take 2 contract players from Detroit or something.
