The Sea of Red was born during the 1986 Flames-Oilers series (hereafter, the greatest playoff series ever played). Play by play guy Don Whitman, observed that most Oilers fans were wearing white that year and remarked towards the end of game 2 that the Oilers would surely face a 'Sea of Red' when they came to Calgary for game 3.

And, in fact, they did.

Thus endeth the lesson.
Alright enough with this ridiculous debate. Both sides are right. It's a bloody pun. However it got started, the "C" of red has taken off BECAUSE it's a pun with "sea" of red. Sea of Red is the idea...C of Red is a little bit of humour. Personally, I prefer "C" of Red, so that you get both sides of things, but as long as nobody tries using See of Red, because all you SEE is Red, I'm happy.
