That's back when hockey reporters/many GM's didn't follow the NCAA very close, if at all. Nieuwendyk was putting up 2 ppg in college - at that pace he would be much more sought after then even Dan Dekeyser is currently. Comparing either of the prospects we got to Joe is laughable, at best.
