Some thoughts from me the morning after
- Sounds like Iginla may have been the one to pick the Pitt deal not the Flames
- This is a bullet in the chamber deal. The Flames lack assets across the entire organization. They get 3 some good pieces back in this deal. How many work out remains to be seen of course. The first is the most important asset.
- Lots of talk about the two kids not being amongst the Pens’ top 10 prospects. Even if true, they probably rank in the five-ish area for Calgary. Friedman had a good point as well that once you move past the elite prospects, it is really hard to rank everyone else.
- I don’t know much about the two kids, but as noted last night, both are known for high hockey IQ – which is what Weisbrod seems to focus on
- The Flames seem to have done a good job with the college kids they have drafted – so hopefully they have good reads on these guys
I’m thrilled the organization is moving on. The return is not great, but expected, and the price they pay for not having the sack to do it sooner.
Hearing Pete break up on the Fan this morning, probably was the first time the emotional part of this hit home for me.
