It's probably going to suck for a few years, but atleast the decision that needed to happen 3 years ago was finally made.
For me, the best part of this deal is not the 1st round pick. It's not the two college guys. It's the fact that we can finally take that step psychologically. Whether you like it or not, the next generation of Flames was not going to emerge with the current team, and not without such a huge shadow looming over them.
I for am looking forward to the next leader stepping up. Whether that's Sven, Gaudreau, Backlund, Seth, or some guy we draft 2 years from now….someone will eventually do it. I for one can't wait to see what happens next.
Onward and upward, Flames fans!
After perhaps more downward….

I agree in a lukewarm way. I've thought they should have made this move for years and because of the stupidity of ownership and management didn't do so. So yes I'm happy that they finally got around to moving on with the future. But the actual trade is a disaster. The Boston deal at least had a guy who could be a legit 2nd liner. This is two more palooka's for the Heat and a pick.
Yep it has changed the direction a bit. We will see how the rest of the trades go. But your downward comment is very likely with Feaster running the show.
