It all depends on how you view this trade.
Is this the Flames getting 2 mid level prospects and a 1st round pick as opposed to inevitably nothing, with a free agent Iginla walking in the summer?
OR
Is this the Flames getting less value than desired/warranted for our captain who will re-sign with Pittsburgh, which should have drove up the price further, making it (at initial glance) a total robbery on their part?
OR
Is this the Flames essentially getting 2 mid level prospects and a 1st round pick for nothing more than a 3 month Iginla rental, as he then re-signs with Calgary in the summer after the cup run?
How this trade is received is Completely determined by which of these stances you are on. Truth is though, we were never going to get return that could be considered fair for Jarome Iginla. We speculated above what the reality of it really was. That is Fact.
