Some people keep bringing up that he is free to retire at any point, much like anyone is. They are right. Anyone can retire at any given time in their respective careers, they wouldn't get paid but they already know that.

Personally, I think the only thing wrong in this situation is the fact that Kipper isn't retiring. He didn't come out and say "On April 28th I am going to retire from playing in the NHL" He's basically said that "I am still going to play in the NHL as long as I get my way. If you trade me (even though you have the right to trade be) I'm not going to report to that tem and I"ll retire. It's my way or the highway"

He's acting like a 5 year old. If he plans on retiring, he should just retire and it really seems underhanded that he's manipulating the Flames because the only ones who suffer from this are the team and the fans.
