If a team were to all of sudden just say that they weren't going to pay a player because they didn't want him, everyone would think it was terrible. Now a player does that and people are saying things like "well he's done so much for the team" Well what about everything the team has done for the player? If it weren't for the Flames, Kipper probably would have never got a chance to be a starter, he would have never made the money he's made and he wouldn't have the life he has to day.
If this happened to another team, we'd all be saying how bad it was.
