That's totally fair, but he should just retire if true. The Flames are paying him, and part of the value of that paycheck right now includes the fact the he's a movable asset. If he wants to take that away, he shouldn't be getting paid either.
Sounds like he's a man ready to move on to the next stage of life which is cool. So do it and retire, stop collecting valuable cash from the Flames if you aren't prepared to do everything they are paying you for, including the potential of being trade bait.
