If you're going to bring up his contract that means it should be honoured by both sides.
He's done great for the Flames in the past but he hasn't done it for free. He was paid and paid well. The fact that he was the only one who actually cared on some nights is all the more reason for him to want to go to a playoff team. He can't do this and say it's something he's earned the right to do, he earned the right not to be traded in prior years but to make a threat like that is just dirty.
I really hope this isn't true and he's traded.

I put way more weight into the argument of honoring his contract given that he played hard every night and never complained when the losses piled because Dmen left him hung out to dry or he wouldn't get any offensive support from his team or he never had an adequate backup to give him some rest, the list goes on and on. So, yes, I'd say he has more than fulfilled his contract and if he wants to use a "loop-hole" to retire a Flame and not be a rental player, good for him. If anyone on the team has "fulfilled his contract" it's Kipper.
