This guy has been the heart and soul of the team and has never complained when he was the only player out there giving his all every night. And just because he would rather retire here, than be a rental player you guys throw him under the bus?!?! I understand about trying to make unbiased decisions and not let emotions get in the way, but come on, if anybody has earned an exception to that rule, it's this guy. He has 100% earned to have his say in the twilight of his career. Good for you Kipper!!
I don't think this rumour is true at all, but i do not agree with your post.

He signed a contract that was clearly made with the intention of him retiring in the last year. The only year that they could trade him and get an asset back was this year and that's why it was put in his contract. He has not been doing "charity work" for the flames, he has been getting paid. If this is true and i highly doubt it is, he needs to honour the contract.

If he really wants to stay home with his kids, which is fine by me, then he should reitre. Not sure why he would want to stay for the rest of the year anyway? Once the trades start happening Kipper could be facing 40 shots a game with a GAA of over 4. Not a nice way to finish your career.
