Don't be sad because (if true) one of your favourite players is showing his true colours right now. Kipper is pulling a very selfish and less than classy move right here if true.
All this talk about what he's done for the organization blah, blah, blah. He was paid handsomely for what he brought on the ice, the organization owes him nothing because of that, they paid him. This could easily be turned around and I could say, the "the Flames rescued him from being a minor league goalie for life in SJ, gave him life that allowed him to make millions on the back of the Flames and this his how he repays us.........."
Either way, it doesn't really matter. If he wants to retire, then retire, I won't hold anything against him if he decides he's done tomorrow. That's what he should do if he is no longer willing to fullfill the full terms of his contract, and right now that includes the potential of being traded. Don't straddle the line, either you want to be an NHL player or you don't, no in between right now. If he was UFA or had an NMC, then he could dictate the terms on how and where he wants to play, but he's not.
