This is off a Chicago Board on the same subject as here:

How can they have such high demands when they know their potential trade partners are so limited? You gotta assume Pitt is out after their 2 big moves. So basically Calgary is saying to L.A., Boston, & Chicago "Give it up or GTFO"
The above was me quoting others, I would not call requests for Iginla "insulting"...but I, and many 'Hawk fans would not want to see the best of our prospects traded for a position which is not a critical need.
The thread was mod-locked as I was in mid-edit...the above was quoted fro other CHi fans, I wouldn;t call offering Iginla "insulting"...but agree with the sentiment that, as RW is not a critical need, I would not offer Calgary the cream of our prospects, a feeling shared by a lot of 'Hawk fans.
though might just be a negotiating tactic to start high...it's almost insultingly high.
a) Iginla is gone at the end of the season, and they know it.
b) If they don't move him prior to the deadline they get nothting.
c) This is their best opportunity to get prospects for re-tooling.
d) The other 3 teams he is willing to accept a trade to know this.
At the end of the day I see them taking a pick and a prospect in return. I saw it written the Hawks gave them a choice of any prospect with the exception of Saad, Danault, or Teravainen. Also saw that the Flames wanna deal him outta the West. Talk about paintin' yourself into a corner. With the inept power play the Hawks have been exhibiting, if Bowman stands pat it'll be a major mistake.
