I can't disagree with what he said, the part about the burn out is the most worrisome, you often see Junior aged players leaving the game. The game still has to be fun no matter what. I will bet that Red Deers first 6 draft picks, at least will be kids who played spring hockey. I will be following the WHL draft very close this year and be we'll see how Red Deer picks.
The part about being athletes is interesting. I believe and have seen first hand that the best hockey players could be some of the best in whatever sport they they choose, what kids are taught in hockey easily translates into other sports.
