IF Iginla goes, Tanguay will slip even deeper down the depth list as far as confidence and attiude go, which for skilled guys, is as much a part of the receipe for success as soft hands and passing abilty is. Given the term and money he's left owing, that's going to be ugly.

I agree with the premise, however, the significant amount of salary and years remaining on Tanguay's contract when combined with the fact that any new team acquiring the two of them would have to keep them together (based on what you said) requires re-signing Iginla does gum up an already complex trade process.
Keep it simple in order to get it done (if that's the path the Flames do indeed take).
