Late to the thread, gave myself a day to digest this. Some of the twitters like "a player has come on the market that we would have never thought would be avail" is really sad to see. The first Flames game I ever watched, the day I became a Flames fan, was in Iginla's rookie season - it was a 7-2 win against Pheonix, he was on a line with Dave Gagner and Jonas Hoglund. Rick Tabaracci was in net. Crazy to think ever since I started watching hockey, Iginla has been a Flame. Truely sad, couldn't have asked for a greater ambassador for the Flames.
But, the Flames need to rebuild, so here we are. Iginla, even though he is 35 and declining, still has a elite shot and game breaking ability. If you are in game 7, going into the 3rd period, are you going to wish you had Crosby-Iginla or Crosby-Dupuis? Etc for the other teams.
So I'm asking for the moon.
Boston? Doug Hamilton. We'll throw in a prospect if you need to.
LA? Bernier, Toffolli.
Pittsburg? Too bad you guys delt Morrow. Harrington, Despres and a 1st.
Chicago? Teravainen, Saad, 1st.
Is that a lot? Yes. Thats the starting price. We'll take back a bad contract if you need. Look what Brendan Morrow got... Iginla is gonna bring back a lot.
