Sort out the road record and suddenly we're back in the mix.
For some reason I don't think the owners are inclined to panic as much as some posters on this board do on a regular basis. If they're going to trade Iginla they are absolutely correct to ask for the Moon. If no one meets the asking price then we're still in the mix & haven't sold the heart and soul of the franchise.
The only scenario that would make me happy to see Iginla in another uniform would be one where the other team massively overpays. I want to see Dougie Hamilton in a Flaming C, for example. I can't see that happening any other way than when an Iginla is on the auction block.
Strange and interesting times to be a Flames fan. Anything could happen. We could even make the playoffs!

You're overestimating how close we are to the playoffs. Five points doesn't sound like a lot if you think about it as 2 wins and an OT/SO loss, but five points at this point in the season is A LONG WAY OUT. Not only do the Flames have to make up that ground without very many games left, they have to leapfrog six other teams to get into 8th spot. Do you really see the Flames having a better record than Edmonton, Phoenix, Columbus, Nashville, Dallas AND San Jose for the next month? How about a SIGNIFICANTLY better record than the last four of those teams? This is the attitude that has squandered this team's opportunities to start acquiring assets for the last three years - please don't make the same mistake again. and Dougie Hamilton is not being included in any trade unless the Flames are the ones sending back picks, so you can dispel that notion.
