Rebuilds done right aren't bad. At least there's a plan and you know you're headed in the right direction. You get to really watch young players develop because they get their shot at the NHL early. There are some special moments the first two seasons, it kind of makes up for being low in the standings. By year three, you start to see the big picture, next thing you know playoffs are back within reach. I much more enjoyed the first two years of rebuilding, despite miserable losses, while the Kings did it rather than watching low level or washed up NHLers coming in and keeping them in 10th place. (Sound familiar?)
I'm looking forward to the same thing with the Flames. Edmonton is doing it wrong , they are not drafting intelligently and didn't grab the right veterans to mentor their kids. That is a terrible example of a rebuild. The Flames do it right and they'll still be in a playoff spot before the Oilers. Rebuilding isn't as bad as some people think it is.
