The return we get in an Iggy trade will not help this team get to the playoffs next year, if we retain all of our current roster. So now is the perfect opportunity to try and re-tool. In no way should be approach the Oilers and try the scorched earth method, but this team needs a change in culture. We will likely have a top 10, possibly top 5 pick in a deep draft. I would have no problem trying to acquire additional prospects/picks for Cammy or Tanguay (whoever gets a better return), Gio or JBo, Stempniak (perfect sell high rental player). Hold on to Wideman, Hudler, and the obvious choices like Brodie, Backlund, Sven etc. if we sell off EVERYONE we will become the Oilers. Keep some veteran presence around, and acquire additional propsects with those who are traded. We probably won't make the playoffs next year anyways, so in a sense we could possibly have 2 top 5 picks, a few additional 2-3rd round picks, and a few mid-level prospects. In addition to Gaudreau, Wotherspoon, Ramo/Brossoit, possibly Jankowski (but he'll probably need a little longer). Potentially, leaving us with a decent young core, with a nice veteran presence and we wouldn't have had to be bottom feeders for 3+ years. Buuuuut is Feaster the guy to get this job done? I sure hope so.
